It’s never too early to prep your Denver home for winter
November 13, 2019
We are all enjoying the fall weather, but it’s never too early to prep for winter! Particularly when it comes to your home and landscaping. Winter can do a number on your property (and thus property value) if you do not properly prepare your Denver home and yard each winter
. To help you prepare, we’ve compiled our three favorite tips to help you get ready.
It might seem tedious now, but we promise completing a full inspection of the outside of your house will pay off big during the winter. Take some time to inspect all windows and doors in October and November, prior to winter truly hitting. When you walk around to complete your inspection, you’ll want to be looking closely around all exterior facing doors and windows. Are there any gaps you see? If you see a few, check inside as well, and use one of your credit cards to do a test. Does it fit in the gap? If the answer is yes, you’ll want to be sure that gets fixed prior to winter.
It’s time to organize your outdoor furniture and tools. Bring all hoses and sprinklers inside, and make sure they are fully drained of water before packing them up. Bring any furniture covers outside, and spend some time covering your outdoor furniture. While it might seem like a hassle, this will protect some of your favorite fire pits and furniture.
Nothing is worse than having to scrape off your car outside of the garage in the middle of the winter. Particularly if the only reason you’re doing it is because you failed to clean your garage properly. Make sure to take a day to clean up your garage so you can fit one, or even both, of your cars in the garage. This will save you headaches later!
When It’s Time…
When winter is finally here, make sure you’ve turned off all water to the outside of the house. If you don’t shut off the water to your hoses, you could have pipes bust and that is NEVER a good thing. While you are preparing your home for the winter, keep in mind that you’ll need to start preparing for snow removal and we are always here to help.
